The team is called to a shooting at an old hockey arena, The Godwin Coliseum (Maple Leaf Gardens), after the owner of the property, who plans to demolish it and build two skyrises is shot. The team, who have no leads, enters the building, to find that the entrance that the owner came through was rigged. They find the rifle that fired the shots, and check the serial number. After some brief interrogation of the rifle's owner (the coach of a junior team that the gunman used to play for) they come up with the name of a former soldier. They find that his best friends were all killed while they were on tour and he was the only survivor of the bomb. Sam instantly relates to this as he killed his best friend, Ben, accidentally in Afghanistan when he was a soldier. When they discover secret passages, Sam leads the team through the passage, only to be countered with an incendiary grenade. Soon after Sam negotiates and bonds with the former soldier, things get ugly, as the soldier takes Spike at gunpoint. Ed shoots the subject, killing him. Sam is furious and extremely upset that he was killed and tells the team that they could've saved him. In the briefing room Wordy asks Sam if he was saving him because that was the job or if he was saving him for Ben. Sam considers this and comes to the conclusion that he didn't stay objective and put his team at risk, saying that he doesn't belong a the SRU. The team collects personal mementos and photos of Sam's and convinces him not to quit the SRU.
